| Perteet provided the design and construction administration for street improvements on Commercial Street from Union Avenue to Wilkes Street, and Wilkes Street from Commercial Street to Rainier Avenue. The project involved curbs, gutters and sidewalks, on/off street parking, storm drainage, water and sewer, surveying, and environmental and utility coordination.
Property owners helped throughout the project to maintain the character of the historic town. During construction, two restaurants and one US Post Office located on the impacted streets were kept in operation. Excellent utility coordination ensured that water and sewer service was maintained at critical times and shut down only during brief intervals.
Steilacoom required the project to be completed in less than 12 months. Perteet finished the job in nine—and led the public involvement process, preparing preliminary and final design, completing PS&E and providing construction services.
The result was a resounding success—the project received the APWA Washington State Chapter “Project of the Year 2003” award. |
