| Perteet completed the North Shore Restructuring Study for PACE, which encompasses the municipalities of Evanston, Skokie, Wilmette and Lincolnwood. The final study covered an area four times the size of the initial area and involved coordination with three different service providers.
The project focused on restructuring PACE service to better meet the changing transportation patterns in the North Shore and surrounding area. Project elements included community connections (small vehicles), bus rapid transit (serving both commuter and El stations), transit signal priority, and other capital improvements.
We met regularly with a technical advisory committee that included representatives from the three transit agencies that serve the area as well as community representatives, interested citizens and professional staff.
The project scope consisted of ridership counts, telephone surveys, employer surveys, focus groups and on-board surveys. Five different public forums were held as part of this process to ensure community transit needs were met.
Our team estimated ridership and operating cost impacts for three alternative service scenarios. We also investigated specific transit routing for these scenarios, along with marginal operating cost differences. |
