Civil Engineers - Levels 2 and 3

Perteet is currently seeking qualified candidates to fill both our Civil Engineer 2 and 3 openings in our Seattle Office.  E-2 candidates will possess a 4-year degree in civil engineering and 3-4 years' experience.  E-3 candidates must possess a P.E. and 5 years' experience in the transportation design field.  Experience with Civil 3D, In-Roads, CAD and WSDOT projects preferred.

  • The essential duties and responsibilities of these positions include:
  • Assignment to project teams.  E-3’s may make major design recommendations.
  • Preparation of design computations and quantity estimates.
  • E-3’s will act as lead designer on projects.
  • Preparation of reports, opinions and recommendations for the approval of the senior staff concerning the direction of the project.
  • E-3’s will act as a technical advisor to junior professional staff assigned to the project and direct CADD technicians in the preparation of plan sets.
  • May serve as onsite project representative during construction.
  • E-3’s will be assigned component portions of major projects to gain experience in project management. 
  • May be assigned "small" projects to gain experience in project management.
  • Candidates will assist in preparation of specifications.
  • Candidates will assist in client contact and communication pertaining to specific projects.
  • E-3’s will act as QA/QC reviewers, able to conduct detailed design reviews.

Construction Technician

Perteet is seeking qualified candidates for our Construction Technician opening.

 The successful candidate will be able to proactively communicate construction documentation requirements, quality and expectations with project personnel. Plan, organize and adapt tasks necessary to complete client scope of work within the time frame budgeted. Organize and maintain an efficient project filing system for hardcopy and electronic documents that upholds funding agency conditions and contract specifications. Compile and deliver progress payment estimates on schedule. Knowledge of FHWA and FTA funding requirements are a plus.

Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years of accounting experience.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills.
  • High level Excel user

Must have own transportation and be willing and able to travel to job sites multiple times per week. Most projects are within King and Snohomish counties.

Resident Engineer

Perteet is currently searching for a Resident Engineer to support Perteet’s construction management team.  

The successful candidate will have prior experience working on public roadways, utilities, and private development projects w/emphasis on roadway improvements, underground utilities construction, and project documentation per State and Federal requirements. He/she will oversee construction projects, performance of contractors, run meetings, respond to all contractor submittals, manage schedules and budgets, and monitor regulatory compliance of all project documentation. Candidates must have the physical capacity to be able to walk on rough terrain, handle utility frames and grates, and be able to function in high traffic areas.  Some long hours, night, and weekend work might be necessary during construction season. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with team members, developers, contractors, and designers are a must. Women and minorities strongly encouraged to apply.

Qualifications:

  • A self-starter team player with positive attitude.
  • Associates Degree in engineering or construction discipline with 3-5 years related experience in construction industry.  Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent is preferred.  PE and CCM preferred.

Construction Observer

We are currently searching for Construction Observers to support Perteet's construction management team. 

Successful candidates will have prior experience working on public roadways, utilities, and private development projects with an emphasis on roadway improvements, underground utilities construction, pavement expertise, and project documentation per State and Federal requirements.  Candidates must have the physical capacity to be able to walk on rough terrain, handle utility frames and grates, and be able to function in high traffic areas.  Some long hours and weekend work necessary during summer.  Excellent verbal and written communication with team members, developers, contractors, and designers are a must.  Federally funded project experience is desirable. 

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience in the administration and observation of construction activities.

Construction Manager

Perteet is seeking qualified candidates for our Construction Manager opening.

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, coordination and control of a construction project from its inception to its completion.  They will be responsible for ensuring that the client's requirements regarding the functionality and standards are met.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two years of construction documentation experience
  • Associate's degree in construction management, civil engineering technology, or a combination of education and relevant project administration desirable.=
  • Requires a valid Washington State Driver's License
  • Experience and ability to work in field construction offices for infrastructure projects
  • Knowledge of project administration and construction management principles and techniques
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications and contracts

Duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Performs administration, record keeping, and document control of construction management projects
  • Logs, reviews, tracks, and manages documents for RFI's
  • Attends weekly coordination meetings 
  • Processes project payment applications, records bid items as cited on daily reports, calculates bid items, identifies funding sources for bid items, and processes them
  • Processes and tracks change orders and reviews force account sheets

CAD Civil Engineering Technician II (Seattle Office)

Perteet is seeking qualified candidates for our Seattle Office CAD Technician II opening.

Responsibilities include:

  • Create drawings using AutoCAD or Microstation given limited input and oversight
  • Assist Senior CAD Technicians and Engineers with project drawings
  • Multi-task projects and drawings and be able to prioritize to meet deadlines
  • Prepare presentation graphics
  • Ensure CADD standards are consistently applied to all drawings.

Qualifications:

  • Two-year degree in Civil Engineering Technology
  • Experience using AutoCAD or Microstation

Archaeological Field Technician

Searching for on-call field technicians for project work in our new Cultural Resources Division. Field projects will include pedestrian and shovel probe surveys, construction monitoring, and testing/data recovery. Some lab processing, analysis, and reporting opportunities may also be available. All projects are in Washington, and most will be mobilized from our Seattle office. Applicants should be local to the Seattle area or have the capability to find lodging locally. We’re looking for enthusiastic and professional team players with a focus on producing high quality work. Competitive compensation will depend on experience.

Required Qualifications:

  • B.A. in anthropology, archaeology, or related field
  • Accredited archaeological field school
  • 6 months experience conducting survey, monitoring, or testing/data recovery
  • Shovel probe survey experience
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to work within a team
  • Detailed note taking abilities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1 year experience
  • 40 hour HAZWOPER trained
  • Construction monitoring experience
  • Experience in cultural resources management
  • Experience in Washington or the Pacific Northwest
  • Lithic analysis/cataloging experience
  • Ability to operate Trimble GPS
  • Own transportation

At this time, the opening is a temporary position but may be converted to full-time in accordance with increased workload projections.
