When Island County needed additional resources to respond to a National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) probation situation that had arisen from a FEMA Community Assistance Visit, they turned to Perteet. After reviewing current practices, Perteet prepared a report with recommended best practices and potential new processes and procedures. The recommendations were best practices based on CRS activities and customized to fit into the County’s building department’s existing processes. Perteet supported implementation of the County’s selected recommendations and coordinated communication with FEMA. The result was that the County was successful in gaining more time from FEMA to address the remaining CAV issues, and the NFIP remained available for County residents.
