In need of environmental compliance services for their expansion into the Pacific NW aggregate mining industry, ARCOSA, a national leader in aggregate and mineral products, reached out to Perteet to access our regionally recognized expertise in mine site compliance and geologic assessments. Our project team started with a detailed review of current site permits and an assessment of how the newly acquired mine complied with permit commitments issued by six federal, state, and local permitting agencies. The assessment identified compliance concerns, recommended specific remedies to bring site conditions into compliance, and identified required updates for several active permits. Perteet’s on-going work has involved updating sand and gravel general permit documentation, coordinating with Kitsap County on the installation of water quality controls, providing compliance training to on-site personnel, and general environmental and engineering services to on-going site operations. The success of Perteet’s work has improved site operational effectiveness, reduced the number of non-compliance notices, and allowed ARCOSA to increase operational output.
